Meet a Franchisee

Mr Linards Stafeckis
Country Manager & Partner - Latvia

What was your biggest challange?

“Joining Greenquip was a bit different from what I had done before. I was a Sales manager at one of the worlds biggest Construction machine rental brands and used to working in a very organised way, but with high expectations and low flexibility. There my hands were many times tied and rarely was I asked for my opinion or ideas. Here my opinion is not only valued but essential, it was a big change. Suddenly I found myself in a fast-paced decision-making, being coached and supported by people who value me. The first day I almost wanted to quit, but it just got more and more fun. To this day, I still like to work independently as an entrepreneur, it’s a special freedom to be in control, but at the same time have the backup like an employee.”

What to consider as a Franshisee?

“Essentially all the initial groundwork was already laid out, no need to brainstorm a name, find suppliers and hire marketing, IT solutions etc. Nothing comes for free and I still have to get the customers, but now I can focus on sales, delivery and service. I´m my own boss, but I have the GQ groups support and strength.”

Is there anything that has not turned out the way you intended?

“Yes, the growth rate is exponential and we see increased demand, but entering a new market has its challenges. Before we could build up stock, we had to drop ship a majority of orders, rendering high transport costs, delays and thus a lot of financial yielding and good will actions to keep customers happy. It was a tough time, but we had a lot of support through the franchise system and we learnt a lot from it. This year, the prognosis is beginning to show great success.”

Why become a Franchisee?

“As a franchisee, you run your own business and make your own decisions. However, there is always a safety net and a well-functioning system. We have a great sense of community and you get support when things happen. I always have franchise colleagues and employees at the head office that I can call. It’s also easy to build a good organisation when the company grows. It’s a very nice way to be self-employed.”
